China: Beijing Day 2 (Pt. 2)

More Forbidden City…

Next stop: Ditch of Floating Cups.
/facepalm
Hi bad translation.

At one time, the court would fill this with water and float cups of liquor on it. Pretty awesome! And it’s really not a ditch…

All the ceilings were so fancy.

You could pay $5 US and dress up in a costume and get photos done.

Of course Aimee had to do it! =) She picked a traditional bride costume.

Ever watch those Chinese movies where that messenger comes running in with the scroll into the throne room, kneels down, and starts reading? Marcus felt the need to re-create the scene. =D

A bedroom.

Vase doorways! For… munchkin sized people….

This is a well. A well that a concubine was thrown into on the order of the Dowager Empress. I can’t even figure out someone fit into this thing!

Another museum exhibit. This was my favorite piece by far! It’s a constellation map.

With pearls for the stars. @_@

There was a whole exhibit of Buddhist statues and sculptures.

Aimee and Judy demonstrating height differences. =D

More dragon babies!

Marcus standing in for Mitch. ^_^

A Qilin. Or Kirin in Japanese.

At this point, we stopped to take a break and check out the gift shops. Lots of neat stuff!
The last thing we saw at The Forbidden City was a pretty garden they had in the back.

There was even a small mountain with a building on top.

At the base of the mountain.

At this point, it was almost sundown so they started herding people out the door.

And we were done with The Forbidden City!
