How the Gilgamesh get around when the teleporting abilities are not working. =D
Sorry to anyone not interested, but I need to round up Gilgamesh people for AX. So on behalf of our fearless leader (that would be Ziggy), let’s figure out a time cause some of us (*cough*scruffyrebel*cough*) are scheduled to the max already. =D
Ok, when we meeting peoples? So far I’ve been suggested later Sunday or sometime Monday. So comment if you have other engagements or suggestions! Something to maybe keep in mind: Lionel will be free Sunday evening if we wanted to do a photoshoot with him which would be wicked cool. =)
Oh and for everyone else, if you’ve got some free time and room in your AX schedule (ha!) and want to do an easy costume from Gilgamesh, there are a bunch of fairly simple plainclothes characters that would be fun to have.
It’s only sort of a report because we really didn’t do anything other than sit in our panels and run around doing masquerade stuff.
Thanks to everyone who came to our panels and if you have any suggestions on stuff we can improve, please please tell us! Like: AJ, you make no sense, ohmigod learn to form a coherent sentence and until then, let Judy do the talking.
We can take it. =D
Seriously though, it’s hard to tell how you’re doing when the audience is not very responsive. The hard costuming panel was great but the advanced cosplay one… we were really unsure how it was going since no one was asking questions. Do we need more visial aids? More demos? Less yakking…? Attrition rate of attendees wasn’t too bad so I guess that’s something at least.
I think I managed to see most of the people I knew at Fanime which is yay!
As for the Oscaru costume… I was up all night Friday finishing it. ^^; Yeah, I know I said I was almost done but somehow, Aimee and I were up all night anyways finishing. How does that always happen?!
Anyways, I only have a couple photos on my site as I’m waiting on photographers. Future photo spamming will be done on the hcc_cosplay journal so feel free to join that if you’re interested in our group projects.
Ok, just one brief fangirl spaz moment: we look like the real takarasiennes from the show in that photo Ziggy took of us above!!! YAAAAY!
Ok, I’m done. =D
On Sunday, I did Bay to Breakers, a road race that goes from the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of those quintessential SF things you have to do at least once and I’ve always wanted to do it, so when a bunch of the guys in the garrison decided to do it , I was like: “Sign me up! Cause nothing is better than doing a 7+ mile road race in plastic armor!”
Yeaaah. ^^;
Well, I’m still hobbling a little bit but mostly it’s cause I have 6 blisters from my boots. Lemme just say: Stormtrooper boots are not made for long distance walking. And I have bruising from places where my armor was whacking into me for 3 hours straight. I anticipated most of that and tried to pad out everything with foam but there’s only so much you can do.
For those wondering what the landspeed of an unladen stormtrooper is: a whopping 3 mph. ^__^’ As one of the girls said: this just proves that troopers are not meant to troop; they should stick to riding a transport.
Thanks so much to twjudy for letting me drag her along as a handler. (I dunno why she still hangs out with me considering the crap I put her through. ^_^)
There’s over 20 yards of cording on that jacket… on Saturday, I ran out halfway through but I had bought the entire spool from the JoAnns we usually go to. I was desperately trying to get this costume done for a photoshoot on Sunday so Judy drove all over creation (the bay area in this case) checking fabric stores to find more of this trim which was this funky off-white color. Turns out JoAnns is discontinuning it so no one had it! ARGH!
So I went back to the first JoAnns we went to and bought the same colored trim, but it was a kind of upholstery trim that is sewn to bias tape. Guess who sat for 2 hours and picked out all the stitching on 12 yards of this stuff to separate the bias tape from the cord?
I love you Judy!
And the kicker? I didn’t finish in time. =P I tried sooo hard and didn’t sleep but I just couldn’t get it done to my satisfaction and I didn’t want to do a half-assed job because this costume means so much to me.
So instead, I wore Radames, and lionboogy took some wicked photos of me and Judy.
