Hawaii – Part 1

I went to Hawaii in March and have been an utter bum about processing the photos. I’m finally doing it so aimeekitty can see them… 2 days before she leaves to go to Hawaii. =D

Honolulu Airport. Prettiest airport I’ve ever been in. We spent a week on the Big Island, staying in a timeshare in Kailua-Kona.

A shop in Kailua-Kona. Ok I know they mean ukeleles but the anime fan in me snickers a little.

Just a shot of plumeria, which is everywhere. It’s such a pretty flower.

We ate a lot. This was a pretty good restaurant and the name just makes me laugh.

Java Lava for breakfast! They make juices of just about anything! The red one is oranges and beets. We got it as a recommendation from the waitress and it was good! I didn’t even know you could juice beets…

Our little lizard friend who would be sunning himself on the banister every time we came home.

Kiholo Bay. It’s (obviously) a volcano rock beach.

The Queen’s Bath. The water was so freaking cold. I was too chicken to go in. I hate being cold. ^^;

Our favorite non-alcoholic drink while we were there. =D

Bubba Gump’s. More food!

Volcano National Park. All the rest of the photos in this post are from there.

There are random steam vents all over.

Lava tube!

We hiked through the crater of one of the dead volcanoes. I forget the name now.

That hole you see in the hillside is where the lava came out last time this volcano errupted.

The odd local plants.

It was about a 3 mile hike around half the crater and through the middle. It was very relaxing and easy to do so if you’re ever in the area, it’s a really neat hike. How often does one get to walk through a (dead) volcano right? =D

We stayed until it got dark so we could see the active volcano glowing at night.
