Comic-con 2011

Comic-con this year was quite relaxing! Amazing how much of the con you can see when you are not painting in your room the whole time. >.<

We only sat in on a couple panels but it was just about right. I have total ADD and can’t sit through too many panels. Judy and I went to a Patricia Briggs panel on Thursday. We figured there was no hope of getting into the George R.R. Martin one so we opted for another author we liked. It was interesting to hear how she came up with the idea for her Mercy Thompson series, which is that her publisher decided they needed an urban fantasy series so asked her to write it. o_O

And then on Sunday, we got up retarded early and sat in line to get into Hall H. We were aiming for the Supernatural and Doctor Who panel, but we also sat through Glee which was in front of those. The Supernatural panel was awesome!

At one point, we ended up across from a booth that had the Game of Thrones cast at it. We stopped to watch them and I was looking at this really hot guy getting interviewed, and I turned to Judy and was like: How much you wanna bet that’s the guy who plays Jamie Lannister? =D (Turns out I was right… Cheryll confirmed it for me later.)

I didn’t bother dragging around a camera so all my photos are scrounged from other people and there aren’t that many.

Pirates of the Burning Sea

Marcus isn’t playing WoW anymore so he’s been looking for another MMO that’s more lowkey, and decided on Pirates of the Burning Sea. I’ve been trying it out with him and it’s been pretty cool! It’s free so no harm in checking it out. I utterly suck at boarding ships though. I keep accidentaly shooting them instead. >.<

I thought I’d share my utterly froofy-looking pirate. (Actually we’re playing French cause pirates way outnumber everyone else.) I was totally thinking of what Lord Akeldama’s boys would be wearing when I picked the clothing ’cause I just finished reading Gail Carriger’s Heartless. LOL

Petite Trianon Event

Yesterday, Aimee, Judy and I attended the GBACG’s Petit Trianon Event. It was held at this beautiful private club in Oakland that had a room that was totally reminiscent of Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon.

Theme was 18th century so lots of beautiful dresses. I wore Fersen which is uh… the right period as far as the historical person. The outfit was really not remotely historically accurate, but I didn’t really have time to make something new. Everyone was very forgiving though, and they were just really really cool people all around! I hope Judy and I get to do a lot more GBACG events. I had so much fun at the last two!

I’ve decided I need a frock coat accurate to this era cause there were some absolutely fabulously dressed guys there. :: Adds that to mile long list of costumes to do ::
