Of unflattering hairstyles and big butts

We’re back! Jetlagged all to hell but happy to be home. Because my body kicked me awake at 5am today, I started processing photos. I did our victorian photoshoot first…

My dress was finished in 4 days with massive amounts of help from Marcus and Judy. MASSIVE. They did all the pleating on my trim which ended up being around 16 yards of fabric. And Judy did all the detailing on my skirt which includes the maroon panels in front (which I love to death) and all the trimmings on the back and bottom. Thanks soooo much guys!

Things I noticed about this costume:
– Ohmigod could this hair style be any less flattering on me? I’m still trying to figure out how to fix that for next time.

– My butt is really really big in this dress. Ok, I know that’s the point… but still!

– I dunno how you historical costumers do it! I was so sick of having to wrestle 15 yards of fabric 1/2 way through and wearing all that fabric? UGH. It’ll take some slick talking from Judy to get me to do that again.

– I had more complaints but I can’t think of them right now. =D

We dragged dmk26 out with us to take photos. It was just like old times!

Shaddup AJ and let me see the photos.

Fanime photos – Guess what? MORE Bleach!

We did Fanime on Sunday and Monday morning. I spotted a lot of people and managed to say hi to almost everyone (I think) so that was good!

Sunday was all Bleach. This time I managed to rope Ikky-sempai into donning pogo101‘s Kyouraku costume. We did a small photoshoot with kuronosho and then managed to meet up with binkxy, utenatai, singingraisin, and tidus_dream (despite cell phone problems galore) and there were more Bleach photos taken. Those were spread across a couple cameras so they’ll turn up eventually.

We ended the day with our two panels which were packed! Thanks to everyone who came and hopefully it was somewhat useful!

More FSS Photos!

I know you’re probably sick of seeing FSS photos but these are really really cool! positivespace found this amazing wedding photographer, Ed Pingol, who was willing to try shooting crazies cosplayers and made time in his super-packed schedule for us. He’s booked through to 2009 so we were super lucky, and the photo previews are amazing!

Thanks to kitkat_nap, ziggybecket, and Marcus for coming along and helping us out!

I don’t think we’ve ever stopped as many cars as we did that day. I suppose you don’t see nutty costumers every day on Mare Island so the muggles all had to stop their cars and stare. There was almost an accident too when one guy started staring and swerving. -_-

Sooo… the Designs II artbook came out recently and Nagano-san drew Ulicul in a bride dress for the back cover. I love Ulicul! I’m so tempted to make that outfit now too… ^^;

P.S. If you haven’t seen it yet, Go!Comi put up some fun extra stuff for Japan Ai, like the pages that didn’t make the final book. Check out the omake section! And go order aimeekitty‘s book: Japan Ai!

FSS Photoshoot

aimeekitty came up and visited with Judy and I this past weekend. We got into our epic-ly painful FSS costumes and kuronosho took amazing photos for us. They look beautiful! (I’m thinking he filtered out all the ones of us grimacing in pain when the wind blew. ^^; )

This weekend, Judy and I are driving down to L.A. because we can’t get enough of Aimee because we haven’t gone on the new Finding Nemo ride yet!!!

tristencitrine is joining us and after we’re done running around DisneyLand, we’re gonna go take a beginner pole dancing class!

I’m taking bets on who’s gonna be the first one to fall off their pole!

Your contestants are:
Aimee – who trips over sidewalks on a regular basis
AJ – who walked into a full wall mirror
Judy – who gave herself 2 black eyes by opening a door into her head
TristenCitrine – who practically faceplanted after tripping over a small cement sculpture

Sooo… if anyone of us has a tragic injury come Monday, y’all know why.
