Avatar Photoshoot

We did an Avatar photoshoot a couple weekends ago. Cheryll was awesome enough to come be our photographer and we had a relaxed, totally fun photoshoot. And then we had donuts and cold pizza after which is how all photoshoots should wrap. =D

I feel the need to do more Avatar costumes now!

(Oh and in case it’s not obvious, I finally managed to get my website moved onto WordPress. Woo!)

Underworld Death Dealer

So in between fixing up my Mai costume, I’ve been working on my Death Dealer costume. I’ve wanted one of these costumes since I saw the movie, so I’m pretty excited to be finally making it! And because I have seen this movie way too many times, I know that there is an asian female Death Dealer in the background of one scene who wears the same outfit as Selene.

I’m kind of hating pleather right now though. I probably should have chosen a stiffer type like the movie’s, but I had some leftover pleather I bought in Japan years ago that I’m using instead.

Other than the corset, the rest of the costume is “done”. “Done” as in I purchased everything else. =D The Death Dealer I’m doing doesn’t have the arm cuffs Selene has so I don’t have to make those either.

Comic-con 2011

Comic-con this year was quite relaxing! Amazing how much of the con you can see when you are not painting in your room the whole time. >.<

We only sat in on a couple panels but it was just about right. I have total ADD and can’t sit through too many panels. Judy and I went to a Patricia Briggs panel on Thursday. We figured there was no hope of getting into the George R.R. Martin one so we opted for another author we liked. It was interesting to hear how she came up with the idea for her Mercy Thompson series, which is that her publisher decided they needed an urban fantasy series so asked her to write it. o_O

And then on Sunday, we got up retarded early and sat in line to get into Hall H. We were aiming for the Supernatural and Doctor Who panel, but we also sat through Glee which was in front of those. The Supernatural panel was awesome!

At one point, we ended up across from a booth that had the Game of Thrones cast at it. We stopped to watch them and I was looking at this really hot guy getting interviewed, and I turned to Judy and was like: How much you wanna bet that’s the guy who plays Jamie Lannister? =D (Turns out I was right… Cheryll confirmed it for me later.)

I didn’t bother dragging around a camera so all my photos are scrounged from other people and there aren’t that many.

Home Sweet Home!

I’m home! I had an utterly fantastic time in China & Taiwan but I am somewhat relieved to be home. 3 weeks is a long time to be away. I think the kitties missed us. =)

It’s a little odd to see and hear everything in English again. It’s gonna take me a couple days to re-adjust. Hopefully I won’t keep talking to Judy in Chinese like she’ll understand me. She says I kept doing that to her in China… =P

We were uber dorks and took costumes to China. I finally got around to making a Green Snake costume so I can cross it off my To Do List! It was totally awesome cause people were definitely recognizing Aimee and me (probably cause we both based our outfits on tv versions), and Judy did an original costume.

Marcus says people were commenting about how amazed they were that we made the costumes, because while people wearing costumes to the Summer Palace is fairly common, they’re usually rented. Everyone was very cool and friendly about us dressing up; the people working there seemed to love it and we got chased down a bunch for photos.

I posted our Summer Palace photos on HCC’s Livejournal.
More photos to come later!
