Emergency Animal Rescue Service
I volunteer and donate to this organization. They go into disaster areas and set up temporary shelters to take in animals. When people are evacuated, they don’t usually have a place to take their animals so EARS will take in the animal at no charge until the family can come to collect their pet. They will also care for just about any other animal they get and when they pack up to leave, they make sure every one of them goes to a home.
It’s a great program, so if you’re thinking about donating to disaster relief, maybe you can send some love to the non-human victims as well.
